Pistol Shooting
Pistol shooting is not possible in Britain as the laws changed after the tragedy of Dunblaine. However it is possible to participate in this amazing sport in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands as well as in many mainland Europe countries.
The OSM makes regular trips to Northern Ireland to shoot Pistols at a club in Ballymena that has become a second home for us. We have exclusive use of the indoor and outdoor ranges on a Friday (by arrangement) and we can join the club members in their shoots on the Saturday. OSM members can also join the Ballymena club on an individual basis. This allows many more opportunities to shoot pistol on weekday evenings and Saturdays. We have a great arrangement with 5 Corners hotel for accommodation and very good bistro and pub food. Altogether a fabulous arrangement that sees our members booking again and again.
The regulations around pistol shooting are very different to those in this country. Younger shooters may join in (provided they are considered suitable by OSM) and you do not need a license as the guns are rented and we are fully guided by the extremely knowledgeable and safety minded coaches.
The OSM has also arranged trips for Pistol shooting to Poland in the past and hopes to offer trips to Bulgaria in the future.
